This
laboratory has examined for appraisal a spectacular opal blob from
the renown Andamooka Opal-field of South Australia, as
detectable, from the conglomerate impression of the
clay matrix.
This mass
weighs, as is, 8,835 kilograms and is compact,
irregular shape and blocky, with diameters of its dies
up to 280 millimetres in length. The exterior surface
is coated with clay, part of which is broken through
by broken opal surfaces which have a brilliant
precious opal fire-play, expressed in brilliant green
and orange irisations which was the favoured colour
combination for the precious opals at the turn of this
century. The opal shows the pattern of the floral
harlequin order and is of remarkable continuity as
seen from its exposure over the surface by the
occluded sections.
Although
other large blobs have been found from Andamooka, they
have all been cut up for their gemstone content. Green
Horse, as this blob is aptly named, is an objet de
curiositee and as such is, therefore unique.
澳宝鉴定证书
本实验室对送鉴的一块魁奇澳宝矿块进行鉴定。从该澳宝矿块母体的成聚基质外表观测可知，该澳宝产于南澳著名的安达穆克澳宝产地。
该澳宝矿块总重8，835克，外形削凑，非规则又丰实轩朗。其直径在两侧最宽为280毫米。外表裹有黏土坯仔，部分开裂，裸露破碎澳宝，呈现珍贵澳宝所具的绚丽多彩，星光变彩效应，组合成翠绿与桔黄熠熠虹彩，属本世纪初所流行珍贵澳宝组合色彩。该澳宝具有花卉所特有的丰富多样色彩，从其裸露出仔体部份外表观测，色彩深沉流畅。
其他大澳宝矿块虽亦曾产于安达穆克，但这些矿块最终都切割成小块，作为珠宝装饰镶嵌宝石之用。所以像翠骏马(该宝石起得非常得体)这样大澳宝矿块实为希世之宝。
